Exploring the active tourism possibilities in the Bekescounty
- Thursday, 19 January 2012
In frame of the project Active Tours, a study visit in the Bekescounty, Hungary, has been organized on the 15th of September 2011.
The participants – the Romanians, as well as the Hungarians – have had the possibility to get acquainted with the active and eco-friendly tourism offer of our neighbours from the Bekescounty. Thus, the participants have explored the River Cris with canoes for around 2 hours, but also in an original and new way for many of them: through a dragon boat with 20 seats – this part of the study visit was particularly enjoyed by all participants.
After the canoe trip on the Cris, the Bodoky Karoly Museum for Water Management has been visited. This museum is dedicated to the engineer BodokyKaroly and gives the visitor the chance to see the equipment used for the regularization of the River Cris since the year 1600.
The study visit has been concluded with an approximately 1,5 hours long bike trip along the dams of the River Cris, an activity specific for the active and eco-friendly tourism.
The Romanian participants – representatives of CNIPMMR Arad, the Mures Floodplain Natural Park, Condor Club, Association “Come with us!” Arad, Pony Club Arad and Infotour Arad - have greatly appreciated the diversity of the active and eco-friendly tourism offer found in the Bekescounty, having promised to return to the neighboring county.

Romanian – hungarian study visit for promoting active tourism developed in the Mureş Floodplain Natural Park
- Saturday, 24 September 2011
In the fram of the project Active Tours a study visit in the Arad county has been organized. The event has taken place in the Mureş Floodplain Natural Park on the 26th of July 2011.
The participants – the Hungarian and the Romanian ones – have had the possibility to experiment a part of the offer for active and ecological tourism offered by the Park. Thus, the participants have explored the river Mures by canoes. The trip lasted 4 hours and was done between Arad and Pecica, the participants having had the opportunity to get to know the landscape, the fauna and the flora of the Mures Valley.
The visit to the Bezdin Monastery was the other part of this event. This monastery is one of the few Serbian orthodox monasteries in Romania that are still kept in goodshape, being constructed in 1539. The participants have found aut information about the history of the monastery, its inhabitants and about the church found in the center of the monastery.
The participants in this study visit were representatives of different organisations (natural parks, NGOs and public institutions) involved in the promoting tourism in the Békés and Arad counties. All of them have positively appreciated the active and ecological tourism promoted in the Mures Floodplain Natural Park.
In the next months a study visit in the Békés county will be organised. During this event, representatives of several organizations and institutions from the Arad and Békés counties will explore the opportunities for active and ecological tourism offered by the neighbouring county from Hungary.
